HOW DO I CREATE A BOOTABLE OBLITERASE CD FROM AN ISO FILE?
To create a bootable Obliterase CD, you must burn the Obliterase ISO to a CD. The ISO cannot be burned by using a “drag and drop” copy method. The ISO is an image file that contains many smaller files which comprise the Obliterase operating system as well as our erasure software. The proper way to burn the image is using the “Burn image to CD” selection in your CD burning software.
NOTE: Obliterase ISO files cannot be booted from DVD format. Only CD-R and CD-RW discs will operate properly.

Once you have burned the Obliterase ISO image to CD or USB, insert the media into your computer and boot or reboot. To select the boot priority, hit the BIO hot key while the computer is booting up, and then select the device to boot from.
Here is a list of hot keys if you do not know which Function key to use for your computer.

Upon launching the Obliterase Erasure software, you may be prompted to:
- agree to the End User License Agreement
- confirm that you understand that ALL data, operating system information will be entirely erased from the hard drive(s).
- make sure you are connected to the internet
- select which hard drive(s) to erase
Once you progress past these prompts, the Obliterase Erasure software will start by registering the computer’s unique serial number and other asset information to initiate a Certificate of Erasure for that computer.
Then, the Obliterase logo will appear in the middle of your screen indicating that the erasure is in process. An estimate of the percentage of erasure completion will be displayed as well.

Once Obliterase is finished erasing, and has performed a verification of the erasure, the Obliterase icon will change to either a green checkmark if successful, or a red X if it failed.
